A continuous path, planned around each child’s own level and pace.
The starting point for our youngest children. Each child is first assessed across the core areas of development — motor skills, cognition, language, socialisation and self-help — and training is then taken up in a developmentally sequenced order, so that every skill builds on the one before it.
Following assessment by our special educators, an individual training plan is drawn up for each child and carried out in the classroom. Learning at this stage centres on communication, self-care, basic number and language work, and the confidence to take part in a group.
As children grow older, training widens to functional academics and daily living — handling money, telling time, reading signs and instructions, personal safety and travel awareness — the skills that carry a young person through everyday life outside the classroom.
Our senior students are prepared for work and independence: following a task from start to finish, working alongside others, handling simple tools and materials, and taking responsibility for their own work. The aim is useful occupation, dignity and as much independence as each young person can reach.
Physiotherapy is provided in our own therapy unit by trained staff, supporting children across every program. Sessions are planned to each child's physical need — mobility, posture, muscle strength and coordination — and reviewed regularly alongside their classroom progress.
Available to children in all programs, alongside their regular classroom training.
