Sri Raghavendra Special School began in 2008 with a simple thought. Dr. G. Udayasuriyan, moved by an appeal about children with intellectual disabilities in and around Bhuvanagiri, brought the concern to the Sri Raghavendra Temple Trust. With the Trust's encouragement, the school started in a rented building — a small service with a clear purpose: care, education, training, and support for children with intellectual disabilities.
As the school grew, the Government recognized and supported the initiative, and philanthropists came forward to help sustain it — including OM Kameshwari Charitable Trust, which has supported the children's daily meals for years. Through rising numbers of children, staffing challenges, and growing costs, one commitment never changed:
"We will not stop this service. At any cost, we will continue to serve these children."
A turning point came when the Government offered land on a 99-year lease for a permanent campus. With generous support from UNIFY Trust, construction was completed, and the new building was inaugurated in April 2026 — marking a new chapter for the school and the children it serves.
Today, Sri Raghavendra Special School also extends early intervention support to younger children who are not yet eligible for formal admission, believing that early care makes the greatest difference in a child's future.
This is a journey that began with one person's concern in 2008 — and continues to grow through the compassion of the Sri Raghavendra Temple Trust, the Government, philanthropists, and well-wishers.

Some essential facilities remain difficult to sustain and expand without additional support. Your contribution can help us reach more children.
